Community fairs continue to make their comeback this San Diego weekend while those with a taste for the finer things of the fast variety should head to La Jolla, stat.

Without Walls, better known as WOW, the La Jolla Playhouse festival for diverse and interactive theater, continues Friday at Liberty Station. The weekend includes several free performances, music, dance and vaudeville among them. Other tickets cost $20 and include productions by the San Diego-based Blindspot Collective and Tu Yo Theatre, along with appearances by artists from New York and Canada. Shows start at 5 p.m. Friday and run all day Saturday and Sunday starting at 10 a.m. Plan ahead – reservations are recommended for free events.

The San Diego Asian Film Festival’s Spring Showcase continues Friday with screenings throughout the weekend. The big day, Saturday, includes four films and an event to discuss the pop-culture anthology, “RISE: A Pop History of Asian America from the Nineties to Now.” The showcase, through April 28, takes place at UaStar Cinemas Mission Valley. Admission for the Pacific Arts Movement event costs $12, while all-access passes are $110.

Three communities host local favorite fairs Saturday:

• Lakeside – Follow the free Western Days Parade as it proceeds along Woodside Avenue to Maine Avenue beginning at 9:35 a.m. Saturday. With marching bands, rodeo and equestrian units and more.
• Linda Vista – Enjoy the fest and parade at the free Linda Vista Multicultural Fair at 10 a.m. Saturday. Stroll along Linda Vista Road between Comstock and Ulric streets for performances, food booths and more.
• Coronado – The Coronado Floral Association’s Coronado Flower Show returns, marking the event’s centennial. Head to Spreckels Park at 1 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. Sunday. Admission costs $5.

If you’re a car aficionado, some of these models might be the stuff of your dreams – the 1938 Mercedez Benz 540K W29 Special Roadster, 1950 Alfa Romeo 6C 2500 Supergioello Coupe and 1958 Jaguar XK140 Zagato Coupe. All will be among the 150 classic and rare vehicles on display at the La Jolla Concours d’Elegance starting at 9 a.m. Sunday as they are judged for awards in more than a dozen categories. Admission for the event, at Ellen Browning Scripps Park, including live music, costs $95.

Balboa Park’s Earth Day celebration returns with 200 exhibitors offering guidance on how to do our part to cure Mother Earth’s ills. Find sources on everything from wildlife preservation and organically grown crops to alternative energy and ecotourism. Chill too, with entertainment on four stages, a Kids Zone, beer gardens and international food courts. The free fair, fanning out from Plaza de Panama, begins at 10 a.m.
